Life & Career

Atif attended high School at PAF College, Lahore, where he played Kabaddi and became interested in music.

He attended Punjab Institute of Computer Science (PICS) to do his Bachelors in Computer Science (BCs).

It was at PICS, Lahore that he met guitarist and talented young composer, Gohar Mumtaz. This lead to performances at their college and at various restaurants eventually pushing the pair into finding a name for their subtly formed band, which they named "Jal" - which means water.

Working together, the pair recorded the song Aadat (with the help of Salman Albert, amongst other established and accomplished Pakistani musicians).

It became popular on a host of promotional Pakistani music websites.

The music video for Aadat was shot one day in a warehouse in Karachi.

On the base of this one song, “Jal” began their tour of Pakistan—such was the strength of “Aadat”.

However, whilst on tour, personal problems led to a verbal bust-up resulting in an unannounced and indefinite hiatus, during which Atif launched his solo career.

Atif Aslam, after leaving Jal, released a new solo album, Jal Pari (meaning "Mermaid") which was a big hit.

The Songs Woh Lamhey, Dil Haarey and few others were smash hits on both Pakistani radio stations and Music Channels. As both the Jal, “Aadat”, and Atif’s album, Jalpari, shared certain tracks (such as “Aadat”, “Bheegi Raatein”, “Wo Lamhey”, “Ankhon se”) an unofficial war over rights began which resulted in both sides claiming to possess hard proof to support their respective claims (that, they alone owned the concerned songs).

The hype this feud gave to both Atif and the new Jal was extraordinary and split the musical nation with the fans of each side backing their respective favourite.

Whilst the drama of lyrics & composition ownership continued in Pakistan, Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt called Atif Aslam to seek his consent to include "Woh Lamhey" in the soundtrack of his new motion picture, Zeher (2005).

The song (especially the remix version) became a hit.

This pattern of a slow playback song by Atif in the movie, supplemented by a remix version released for radio airplay was to become standard procedure with Atif’s songs on the Indian market.

He recorded a song for the movie Kalyug (2005), entitled Juda Hokey Bhi - a slight variation of the ever famous Aadat song.

Like with “Wo Lamhey / Bheegi Yaadein”, a slow version became the theme for the movie and part of the official soundtrack, whilst a remixed version was released to hit the radio stations and desi clubs worldwide.

After recording for Kalyug, an Irani director in Hollywood contacted Atif and within very little time, Atif recorded three songs for that same director’s Hollywood movie, Man Push Cart and was rewarded with a small cameo role in the movie.

Atif re-emerged in the subcontinent with a new track, “Tere Bin” (translation: [Without You]) for the Bollywood Movie, Bas Ek Pal (2006). The song "Tere Bin" became a hit in India and Pakistan.

It was also being considered as one of the most touching and heart melting numbers of the year 2006.

In between the copyright war and media war with Gohar ( Jal ) and recording Bollywood songs, Atif has been touring the world and working on his new album.

Atif visited various countries in Asia, Europe & The Americas which include Pakistan,Bangladesh, India, UAE, UK, Canada & America—taking his sound to the “pardesi” (expatriates of the subcontinent) worldwide.

Atif’s new album has been entitled Doorie and has released on December 2006. The songs include Maula, Doorie, Kuch is tarah, and Hum Kis Gali.

Justin Drew Bieber has quickly become the teenage heart throb for 2009. Before he was famous,
Justin Bieber enjoyed playing sports - especially hockey because he's from Canada.

His parents were young when they had him, and broke up when he was a young child. Many of Justin Bieber's friends growing up didn't even know he could sing - he didn't exactly advertise it.

He used to sit outside a theatre in Stratford Ontario, famous for the Shakespeare Festival, and play the guitar and sing for crowds that would gather. He always had either one of his grandparents or mom with him as he was too young to hang out there alone.

Justin Bieber Biography - How He Was Discovered

Justin Bieber had many videos of himself singing at various venues on youtube - his mom videotaped all his performances along the way. When people would call and ask about managing his career, his mom was reluctant because of the horror stories everyone hears about young stars.

Justin Bieber was discovered singing on youtube.com by his agent, who quickly arranged for him to fly to Georgia to meet with Usher. Just a short time later, the young star, who has two top tens on youtube, signed with Island Records.

His overseas concert was just canceled (April 2010) as a rumor said he'd arrived early, which caused young girls at the concert to become crazed and start pushing. Several girls were sent to the hospital, although most just hyperventilated. One girl had a leg or ankle injury as a result of the mob over Bieber.

which were Top 15 hits on the Canadian Hot 100 and Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. This accomplishment made Bieber the only solo artist in Billboard history to have four singles from a debut album chart in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 before the album’s release.

The album received positive reviews from critics, and debuted at #6 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 137,000 copies in its first week,

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam,is a prolific Indian singer. He is also known as S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, S.P.B. and Baalu in the media. He was born into an orthodox family on June 4, 1946 in Konetammapeta (then in Andhra Pradesh and now in Tamil Nadu). He is the second son in a family of three sons and five daughters. His father S. P. Sambamurthy was a well-known exponent of Harikatha and his sister S.P. Sailaja is a former actress-singer in Telugu. He has two children - Pallavi and Charan.
He was born as Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam into an orthodox Saivite family on June 4, 1946 in Konetammapeta in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh . He is the second son in a large family of three sons and five daughters. His father S. P. Sambamurthy was a well-known exponent of Harikatha and his sister S.P. Sailaja is a former actress-singer in Telugu.
When he was 21, he fell in love with the daughter of the owner of the house he was staying on rent. His parents objected to their union as the girl was of same "Gothram" (lineage), as this was prohibited in conservative Brahmin families. They eloped and got married at Simhachalam, Andhra. The name of his wife is Savithri. The early days of the couple at Chennai was very difficult and tough. The couple have two children namely Pallavi and Charan, who has a production company named Capital Film Works.
Balu took to singing as a hobby during his childhood. He developed an interest in music very early in his life, and had studied notations and learnt to play instruments such as harmonium and flute on his own while listening to his father. His father wished that Balu should become an engineer which brought him to Madras, where he enrolled for the AMIE course. Meanwhile, he also pursued his hobby and won awards at many singing competitions.
In 1964, a Madras-based Telugu Cultural Organisation, organised a music competition for amateur singers. Balu won the first prize, and that proved a turning point in his life. Music director SP Kodandapani took him under his wing. Then offers poured in from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies.
Before he became a full fledged cinema singer, Balu was the leader of a light music troupe that comprising
Anirutta, who was working in Corporation and was the harmonium artist Ilaiyaraaja who joined the group as Guitarist and then moved over to harmonium after Anirutta became busy in his regular job Baskar, Ilaiyaraaja's brother who was in charge of Percussion Gangai Amaran another brother of Ilaiyaraaja who was the Guitarist after Ilaiyaraaja moved over to Harmonium.
Balasubrahmanyam made his debut in film music as a singer in 1966 with Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna, a film scored by his mentor Kodandapani. He has sung more than 39,000 songssince in more than 5 different Indian languages including Telugu, Tamil,Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam. However, he has sung most of his songs in Telugu. He holds the Guinness record for having sung the most number of song recordings by any single male singer (the corresponding record for a female singer is held by Lata Mangeshkar).
A gifted singer, he is highly regarded for his incredible vocal range, deep rich voice, and mastery of style, technique and control. These qualities allowed him expression across various genres of Indian music, and he has been highly sought after by many of India's film music composers. His approach to singing is methodical; he perseveres to understand the full meaning of the songs that he sings (many of which are very poetic) and the settings in which these songs are couched in order to most effectively match their requirements with his vocal delivery.
SPB is fairly well-versed in the Hindi language, though many times criticized for his bad pronunciation, and has also sung in various other less familiar languages such as Bengali, Tulu and Oriya. He feels that vocal gimmickry cannot mask incorrect accents, and while he concedes that his accent and diction in Hindi are not perfect, insists that accent is secondary to singing within the context of the proper emotions required of the lyrics and moods. He welcomes modern technology in music making as it enhances both speed and results.
He has performed both the popular and classical music of India. For example, the songs he performed in the films Sankarabharanam, Sagara Sangamam, Rudra Veena were based on Carnatic classical music, and the song Umandu Ghumandu in the movie Ganayogi Panchakshari Gavayi was based on Hindustani classical music.
SPB virtually monopolised playback singing for more than 30 years in the Telugu, Kannada and Tamil cinema. He hosts a popular TV show called Paadutha Theeyaga on E-TV, Paadalani Undi on MAA-TV ,Ede Thumbi Haaduvenu on 'E-TV Kannada' and 'Ennodo Paattu Paadungal' on JAYA-TV.

Sonu Nigam's father Agam Kumar is a renowned singer who performed on many stage shows in his prime. Sonu Nigam used to accompany his father to his shows and once gave a moving performance at the tender age of three. He sang the superhit song of Mohammed Rafi "Kya Hua Tera Wada" of the movie "Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi". It was appreciated by all and Sonu Nigam tasted fame. He was encouraged to hone his singing though many claimed he was just a Rafi clone.

He got his first break to sing for the movie Janum in the year 1990. Though the film flopped, he got noticed by the famous Gulshan Kumar. He offered Sonu to sing in the film Bewafa Sanam. The song "Accha Sila Diya" became that year's biggest hit. He shot to fame and was noticed by one and all. Sonu Nigam has truly made an indelible mark in the industry and continues to add the melody in life with his flawless voice.

Twenty Best Songs

1. Saathiya Saathiya-(Saathiya)

A great song with gr8 lyrics and sung excellently by Sonu Nigam. Rahman’s music and Sonu’s voice makes the song absolutely soulful to hear everytime.

2. Tanhayee-(Dil Chahta Hai)

This is my all time favorite. I just love this song like anything. I kept listening everytime and becoz of this my friends used to hate me for playing this song everytime. They even presented me an audio CD which consisted of only this song repeated on my birthday. A sad song with gr8 lyrics and sung right from the heart by Sonu with excellent picturisation as well.

3. Kal Ho na Ho-(Kal Ho Na ho)

If u had seen my profile then u will get the lyrics of this song. Excellent song by Sonu Nigam. Infact the sad version of KHNH is equally good to hear.

4. Satrangi Re-(Dil Se..)

My favorite track from my favorite movie. Although I didn’t really like the video. The sceneries were absolutely fantastic but SRK & Manisha I don’t think they suited to this song. He really stretched in a high pitch for this song.

5. Tu hawa hai fiza hai-(Fiza)

A great compilation from Annu Malik. Sonu really complimented Alka Yagnik in this song. Its soothing to hear at sitting alone at nites in an open sky.

6. Sab kuch bhula diya-(Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam)

U might not have heard this song or liked it. It’s a song from the movie HTHS starring SRK, Sallu and Madhuri. It comes when SRK is separated from his wife. Sonu has really sung this song well. I specially like Sonu Nigam when he sings sad songs becoz I think he really sings from heart

7. Suraj Hua Madham-(Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham)

The best song of K3G. Sonu and Alka combination had really made this song wonders. Excellent work by music director Sandesh Shandaliya compiling this beautiful romantic number.

8. Aasman Kehta hai rab se-(Mast)

Sandeep Chowta with a real different tune to this song. Sonu Nigam sings this song with utter relaxation I think. The way with which Sonu co-ordinates with the music is amazing.

9. Acha Sila Diya tune-(Bewafa Sanam)

Again a sad song and again sung extremely well by Sonu from Bewafa Sanam. This was his big break on the silver screen. This song made him popular in Bollywood at the times when the singing department was ruled by kings like Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan etc.

10. Panchi Nadiyan-(Refugee)

A song from Refugee with beautiful lyrics. Excellent support to Sonu by Alka makes this song listen twice everytime u hear it. I must say singing chemistry between Sonu and Alka yagnik is gr8. They both have sung together some absolute classics

11.Ye bekhudi Deewangi tumhise-(Tumko Na Bhool Payenge)

An absolute romantic number. Reminds me of Bryan Adams Everything I do. This song has this great romantic feeling attached it and with Sonu’s voice it’s more good to hear.

12. Rehna hai tere dil mein-(Rehna hai tere dil mein)

One of the four title tracks of the movie and the best of all. A fast paced number with good music and good singing by both Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam and Sonu Nigam

13.Khamoshiyan gun guna ne lagi-(One 2 ka 4)

Once again Sonu Nigam singing for SRK. Phew he sang more hit songs being picturised on SRK then any other actor in the film industry. This is also a romantic number sung duet with Lata Mangeshkar.

14.Yaar Mangiyasi-(Kaante)

This is my favorite and I think I love it more than any of these songs mentioned in my list. I don’t know why but I find a strange sad feeling attached to it which makes me like this song very much. It’s a fast paced sad Punjabi song although I don’t know Punjabi so I can’t make out the whole song but yes it is a sad song. Music Director Anand Raaj Anand has made a real gem.

15. Resham si hai ye hawaein sanam-(Mere Yaar ki Shaadi hai)

A soulful romantic number picturised on Jimmy Shergill and Sanjana, excellently sung by Sonu Nigam once again with Alka Yagnik and this time there is Udit Narayan to accompany Sonu Nigam too.

16. Yeh Dil-(Pardes)

This one’s a fast paced number with melodious lyrics when the hero tries to forget his love. Nice song to hear on high volume (& once again picturised on ShahRukh Khan).

17.Mera Rangde Basanti-(The Legend of Bhagat Singh)

The climax song and the best. The song starts of with Sonu Nigam and then good company is given to him by Manmohan Waris. A great patriotic song very good hear. The way in which Sonu and Manmohan stretch their voices is very nice to listen and not to mention excellent chorus and some great music by A.R.Rahman.

18.Zindagi Maut Na ban jaaye-(Sarfarosh)

This is a qawali type song from a gr8 movie Sarfarosh. I feel both the film as well as this song were unnoticed at many award functions so they didn’t get the appreciation they deserved. Jatin Lalit did a tremendous job composing this, the ghazal by Jagjit Singh (Hoshwalo ko Khabar kya) as well that fast number (Jo haal dilka…) and so did Sonu Nigam singing this song.

19.Kuch Kasme-(Aankhen-New)

Yet another romantic number by Sonu Nigam. This song was there in the movie. I think it was an added attraction but it is an awesome compilation.

20.Sandese aate hai-(Border)

How could I ever forget this song? Excellent song, excellent lyrics, excellent music and excellent singing by Sonu Nigam as well as Roop Kumar Rathod for an excellent movie.

Guinness Singer Lata Mangeskar

BIOGRAPHY
________________________________________
Name: Lata Mangeshkar
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: 28 Sep 1929
Place of Birth: Indore

ABOUT LATA MANGESHKAR:

Lata Mangeshkar is one of the best singers of the Hindi film industry. She is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in the world. It is estimated that she has more than 30,000 solo, duet and chorus backed songs in 20 different languages from 1948 to 1987. Now, it must way over 40,000! Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28th September, 1929 in a place called Indore. Her father Dinanath Mangeshkar was a renowned classical singer himself. Lata was introduced to music at a very young age. The life history of Lata Mangeshkar is truly fascinating. Read this short biography of Lata Mungeshkar.

Lata Mangeshkar was very young when her father passed away, thus making the family dependant on Lata. To take care of her family's economic situation, Lata acted in as many as 8 films from 1942 to 1948. She debuted as playback singer in a Marathi film named Kiti Hasaal (1942). Unfortunately the song was edited out. Her first Hindi playback was for the film Aap ke Sewa Main (1947) but she did not get noticed. At that time, the film industry was ruled by female singers who had heavier and huskier voices like Noor Jehan, Shamshad Begum and Zohrabai Ambalewali. While auditioning for the movie Shaheed (1948), she was rejected on the account of her thin voice! But Ghulam Haider saw the potential in her and gave her a chance to sing in the film Majboor.

The song Dil Mera Toda finally got her noticed and it was touted as her breakthrough song. In 1949, she had four major hits from the films Barsaat, Andaaz, Dulari and Mahal. The song "Aayega Aanewala" from Mahal was a huge hit and Lata secured a firm position in the industry. The husky voices of all other singers became obsolete in front of the high pitched voice of Lata Mangeshkar. The music industry had a huge makeover with the arrival of Lata Mangeshkar. By the late 50's, the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar known as Asha Bhonsle also came into the scene and they both were touted as the unbeatable voices of the industry.

Lata rose to fame rapidly and made her indelible mark in the industry. She has sung with famous singers like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, etc. She has perfected almost every genre of music. Her success and determination made her one of the most powerful women in the industry. She refused to sing for the great composer S.D Burman due to some misunderstanding and also stopped singing with Mohammed Rafi. Her power was so immense that they had to come back to her. She actually monopolized the music industry and every music director wanted to work with her. She understood the requirement of each song and sang flawlessly.

Lata Mangeshkar has been honored with innumerable awards but the one that truly deserves a special mention is that she is the only second singer in the non-classical category (after M.S Subbulakshmi) in India to have received the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna. She has received three national awards and eight Filmfare awards after which she stopped accepting awards in order to promote new talent. She continues to sing every now and then for Hindi movies and perform live. Truly a living legend, Lata Mangeshkar has a talent that is second to none.

Name: Mukesh
Sex: Male
Date of Birth: 22 July 1923
Place of Birth: Zoraver Chand Mathur in Delhi

ABOUT MUKESH:

Mukesh was nicknamed as The Man with the Golden Voice and his songs are true examples of his inimitable voice. Mukesh was born as Zoraver Chand Mathur in Delhi on July 22nd, 1923. His name is mentioned with the names of great legends like Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar. Mukesh left studies after the 10th standard and got a job with Delhi Department of Public Works. He experimented with voice recordings and at the same time, honed his singing ability. A short biography covering the life history of Mukesh has been given below.

The singer in Mukesh was recognized by the renowned actor Motilal, who happened to be a distant relative of Mukesh. He saw Mukesh perform at the wedding of his sister and recognized a hidden spark in the young boy. Mukesh was taken to Bombay where he received training in music to refine his voice. In this period he even managed to bag a role in a Hindi movie titled Nirdosh (1941), which unfortunately did not fare well at the box office. His first stint as a playback singer was in the movie Pehli Nazar (1945). The song incidentally was picturized on Motilal.

Mukesh had the voice that could paint a thousand shades of melancholy. The way he sang, with the perfect tone and diction, he was considered as second to none. The pain that he had in his voice could not be imitated by anyone else. One could feel the tenderness and joy with doses of hidden anguish in his voice that was presented in a raw manner. He went on to command a huge fan following and was counted as a legend among legends. The music maestro Salil Choudhury praised Mukesh with following quote:

"Each word from his lips was a pearl. No one could sing the way Mukesh did, with the right diction, inflexion and intonation. His vocal timbre was out of this world."

Mukesh finally discovered his own style with the films Mela (1948) and Andaaz (1949). With music director Naushad, Mukesh belted out some unforgettable hits like Tu Kahe Agar, Jhoom Jhoom ke Naacho Aaj, Hum Aaj Kahin Dil Kho Baithe, Toote Na Dil Toote Na. These four solos made him a well-known playback singer overnight. It was in the year 1948 that Mukesh sang for Raj Kapoor for the movie Aag. The voice of Mukesh perfectly matched the helplessness that was portrayed onscreen by Raj Kapoor in the song Zinda Hoon Is Tarah. After that there was no looking back and this wonderful partnership went on till the year 1975.

With Raj Kapoor, Mukesh immortalized heartbreaks and despair and belted out some classic numbers and endless list of hits. The ones that deserve a mention are Awaara (1951), Shri 420 (1955), Parvarish (1958), Anari (1959), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970) and Kabhi Kabhi (1976). His last recording with Raj Kapoor was the song "Ek Din Bik Jaayega" from the movie Dharam Karam. The music was composed by R.D. Burman.

Mukesh breathed his last while on a concert tour to Detroit, U.S. He suffered a massive heart attack. His untimely death shocked the entire nation and the film industry. When the news of his death reached the film industry, Raj Kapoor said, "I have lost my voice". Such was the fame of Mukesh who shall truly remain a legend. There was and will be none who could produce the same kind of magic he did.

ABOUT KISHORE KUMAR:

Born as Abhas Kumar Ganguly on 4th August, 1929, this great singer known as Kishore Kumar, affectionately called Kishore Da, was one of those very few singers who took risks and experimented with different styles of music. He would often go to the studios and ask producers if he could sing on the movie's soundtrack. Initially he could not develop a style of his own but nevertheless he perfectly imitated K.L. Saigal. Once, the great S.D Burman had come to Ashok Kumar's house to meet up when he heard Kishore singing. He actually thought it was K.L. Saigal singing and inquired if he was there too! When he came to know that it was Kishore singing, he truly appreciated and encouraged the young lad to continue refining his voice but at the same time, develop a style of his own.

Kishore kept this advice in mind and went on develop his own signature style. He perfected yodeling, a unique style he heard amongst the Austrian music collections of his brother Anoop. In Hindi film industry, his yodeling turned out to be widely popular and became a trademark of Kishore Kumar. His songs sounded absolutely natural, like laughter. He used to incorporate non-sensical terms into his songs and give it an entirely new feel. The ability to transform his voice according to not just the scene but also the actor is something that was truly incredible of Kishore. He has sung soulful songs for Dev Anand and also fun filled songs for Rajesh Khanna.

After Rajesh Khanna went out of the scene, Kishore Kumar belted out chart topping hits for superstar Amitabh Bachchan. When R.D. Burman stormed the music world, Kishore Kumar re-surfaced with hits like Roop Tera Mastana and many other melodious songs. Some films that deserve a special mention are Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Kinara, Dream Girl, Anurodh, Sharabi, Mr. Natwarlal, Gol Maal, Dostana, Manzil, Padosan, Shalimar, Khatta Meetha, Kasme Vaade, Ghar, Don, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Dilli Ka Thug, etc.

When his popularity began to diminish during mid 80's, he retired and wanted to return back to Khandwa, his native place. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. On October 13th 1987, co-incidentally the birthday of his elder brother Ashok Kumar, Kishore suffered a heart attack and breathed his last. His untimely and unexpected death shocked the entire nation. Kishore Kumar married four times and his eldest son Amit Kumar also ventured into the world of music.

Playback Singer Karthik Biography

BIOGRAPHY

Name: Karthik
Sex: Male
Date of Birth: 07 Nov 1980
Place of Birth: Chennai

ABOUT KARTHIK:

Karthik is an Indian playback singer of the Kannada film industry and Tamil film industry.

Biography
Karthik had a good interest in music early in his life and had learnt Carnatic music during his school days. Later on he started singing for his college band and regularly participated in IIT Madras Fest ‘Sarang’.

After nearly a year since his meeting with Srinivas, Karthik received a call one night from him. Apparently Rahman needed a fresh voices for backing vocalists for a song from Pukar and Srinivas could not get in touch with one of the singers and then he remembered Karthik and tried to get in touch with him. Ironically Karthik was out with his friends and was not reachable for quite some time. As luck would have it, he managed to get the information just in time and rushed to the recording studio.

Having spent over a year being a backing vocalist, Karthik got his break during the re-recording of One 2 Ka 4. For the background score of one of the scenes in the movie, A. R. Rahman wanted a high-pitched alap and Karthik along with other chorus singers gave a shot at it. Rahman impressed with the voice, asked him stay back for the recording. Karthik grabbed the opportunity with both hands and performed, with Rahman giving him pointers and walking through the alap. He struck gold with this session and soon Rahman asked him to perform for a song Nendhukittaen from the film Star.

Being an ardent fan of A. R. Rahman, Karthik always dreamt of meeting the musical great. After searching a lot of avenues, he happened to find out that one of his close friend's cousin was singer Srinivas, who sang many songs for Rahman. During their brief chat, Srinivas asked Karthik to sing a few lines, and was impressed by his voice and asked him to look at singing more seriously. Taking cue, Karthik resumed his singing lessons.

When Minnale hit the screens in 2001, the tune on everyone's lips was the catchy riff of Maddy. Very few knew that the tremendously popular track was sung by a young Karthik, not that he’s very much older these days! Nearly a decade and close to a thousand songs later, Karthik's career rainbow seems to be splashing one colour after another with no sign of even sky being the limit.

There are a few very defining characteristics that set Karthik apart. For instance he is one of the few active crooners in the industry today who can effectively blend the intricacies of classical Indian music with global styles reaching from throaty hard rock to a mellower lounge tuning. Be it a poppish Enakoru girlfriend or an emotion riddled Anjalai, Karthik has a versatility that is rare. He is also possibly one of the first singers to perform professionally without the aid of a double-figure orchestra. Playing with a hand-picked bunch of professional musicians which include Roland Bennet, Karthik has certainly laid the clich that audiences do not enjoy improvisations of film tracks, to rest.

With numerous solos, constantly increasing rhythms, pace, life and yet maintaining the spirit of the original, Karthik and his five piece act have been making waves at shows across South India.

Language doesnt seem to be too much of an obstacle for Karthik. Be it Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam or Hindi, chances are most of the chart-toppers are courtesy of the man with the golden voice.

Quite a regular fixture on most South Indian cinema music productions, Karthik is now looking to broaden his musical horizons with forays into the realms of fusion and exploring his potential as a complete musician. With a couple of Filmfare awards and a State Awards collected along the way, there doesnt seem much space for doubt about where he‚isheaded.

Karthik has sung a number of songs for many popular music directors, including A. R. Rahman, Ilayaraaja, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Harris Jeyaraj. Karthik has sung songs in several languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Ennaku Oru Girlfriend from the Tamil movie Boys was one of his huge hits as was Oru Maalai from the 2005 film Ghajini. and he recently sang one song for TELUGU film for KOTTHABANGAARULOKAM nijanga nenanaa.. this song is very populared. His recent track in 2008, the gaana inspired "Ava Enna" from the 2009 film Vaaranam Aayiram has been well received. And also his Song in 'Ghajini'(2009)"Behka" is Hit track all over the world.

Karthik performed with Bennet Roland performed at Festember 08, the annual cultural fest of NIT Trichy and Ragam 08, the annual cultural fest of the National Institute of Technology Calicut, on 28 March 2008.Karthik has sung at the recent Indian Premier League Twenty 20 cricket events held in Chennai. Karthik with Bennet performed at Nova 9, the ninth foundation week celebration of UST Global in Trivandrum on August 22 2008. He married Ambika on July 12, 2006 in Tirupathi and been blessed with a girl baby.
